Event Centre (EC), registration

Locations and timetables can be seen in the section “Details on the etaps”. Those don’t have to register, who entered earlier, paid the entry fee with bank transfer or bank card, don’t want to change and didn’t request hired SI card.

     If you didn’t pay the entry fee earlier, please pay it cash at the registration.

     Registration on site is only available until the printed maps and vacant starting places are filled in, each day in the EC.

Parking

Read section Details on the etaps for exact locations. During parking please follow the instructions of the organizers. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles, because there will be not only orienteering competitors in the Event Center’s area. You can leave your car keys at the finish tent (prolog, night) or at the kindergarten (E1 + E2) where it will be guarded.

Detailed description can be found in each etap.

Maps

4 colored digitally printed to water-resistant paper.

ISOM2017-2 map key is used for the E1 middle, and E2 long races. ISSprOM2019-2 is used for the prolog and the night races. Read section Details on the etaps for details such as scale, contours, size, etc. Prior versions of maps can be seen in the finish area in a form of exhibition.

Control descriptions

Printed on the maps. Extra control description can be picked up at the start in the first start field. For the extra control description we provide you equipment to put it up (scissors and duct tape), however, for the sake of environment friendliness, we ask you to please use you own control decription case, if possible. The extra control description were printed on blank side of second hand paper due environment friendly reasons.

Classes

M - Men, W - Women. Open classes: Open A – Open Advanced; Open E – Open Easy; Open T – Open Taped (with stripes).

Free start time (between 0 and 120) for the competitors who run in “Open” at prolog, E1 and E2. At the night event there will be given start times also for the competitors of Open E. 

Starting

You will get the map at the last start field. You can check the class on the map, but you shouldn’t look the map before your start. You can stand with your map along the start line until the start signal.

Punching

SPORTident electronic punching system will be used. The SI units will be working in contactless Air mode.

Controls

Controls will be equipped with SI-box, punch, orange-white flag. On night event controls will reflect light.

Refreshement

All competitors arriving to the finish will get a refresher. Please dispose of the plastic bottle in the appropriate („plastic”) container.

     On the longer courses of E2 there will be a refreshment control during the race. See section „Details on the etaps” for further info.

Map collection

Maps will be collected after the daylight races at the finish areas. You can take the collected sprint maps on Friday after the last start (cca. 18.00). The collected maps of the E1 and E2 races you can take on Sunday after the last start (cca. 12:00).

Results

Results can be observed in several ways.

• Via internet, browse http://live.mtfsz.hu
• The results will be shown on a projector at the finish areas.
• You can check theresults online, by connecting to the local Wi-Fi with your smartphone, tablet or laptop. No mobile internet connection is needed to check the results. Technical details: SSID: result (open system, no password needed). Browse: http://result.hu

Results printed will be in limited amount. Result of the day will be hanged at the finish area the next morning. Results will be uploaded to the events website at the end of each day. 

Children’s race, kindergarten, left-luggage point

Children’ s race (free of charge) at the E1 and E2 races near the EC. During the E1 and E2 races kindergarten is provided by the organizers at the EC.

     At the prolog sprint and the night there will be no children’s race and kindergarten. Luggages and car keys will be guarded at the finish tent.

     You can leave your luggage at the kindergarten where it will be guarded. Your car keys can also be left there in safe position.    

Victory ceremony

Night: Saturday 23.00  

E1+E2 Overall: Sunday 13.30

Prizes

The prologue will be not awarded. First three of overall results (E1+E2) in each category receives medal prize. First three of the night race receives prize.

Selective waste collection

According to the Hungarian Orienteering Federation’s regulation, there will be a selective waste collector in the middle of each finish area. Please place your waste into these containers, because there will be no other ways to collect waste.

Prolog – sprint race, Nagybátony-Bányaváros, Friday, 22th April 2022.

 Event Centre and Finish area

Bátonyterenye, Nagybátony-Bányaváros district, Városház út, on the square before the Town Hall (Városháza).

Parking

Near the Event Center there are two smaller parking areas. Those who arrive first can park on these spots following the intructions of parking instructors.

     Please make sure to use parking places in a place saving method.

     Parking-Event Centre 100-250m/0m.

After official parking places are filled, parking will be available on the side of the street. We

recommend to use the streets to north from the Event centre (Városház út, Bányász út, Barátság út, Jedlik Ányos út).

Registration from 14:00 to 16:00 at the Event Centre.

First start 16:00

Terrain

Urban areas with block houses and parks, courtyards of public buildings. The height differences are not significant. Good runnability and visibilty. Dense network of roads and paths. Don’t wear spike shoes due the many paved areas.

     The traffic may be strong on some streets on Friday afternoon. The courses will not cross the busiest road. This road will be signed on the map with the symbol 709 (Out-of-bounds area, purple cross-hatch).

      By the crossing at an other busy road there will be a crossing guarded by organisers. Beside that please be careful at your running and beware of the vehicles and the traffic. Your health is the most important!

      At some places may occur cloth drying cords. Near the control sites these will be marked with red/white ribbons, but in some legs may occur at other places, be careful!

The map was made according the ISSproM2019-2 (which is valid from January 2022). Beware the new symbol of the bridges and multilevel areas. There are only few such features on the terrain. But one representant exampleof that is directly at the Event Centre, by the bridge leading to the Town Hall (Városháza). You can run there under the bridge, and it’s give a real routechoice opportunity. This area is shown on the map according this figure. In the direction marked with the narrow purple arrow you can run through under the bridge.

The symbol 411 (Uncrossable vegetation) were not used on the map. You may cross free anywhere all of the bushes and hedges signed with the symbol 410 (Vegetation: fight).

Length of the courses

Due technical reasons the course length given on the map means the straigth line length. In the extra control descriptions the runned length is given. In the course details table are given both lengths.

Warm-up map

Alongside the route to the start, 800 m from the EC, smaller part of the terrain which will not used at the race is shown on a warm-up map.  You can take the warm-up map at teh Event Centre, at the beginning of the marked route to the start.

There are 5 model controls without SI units.

Starting procedure

At first the competitors have to go to the pre-start 6 minutes before their real start time. Marked route (red-white ribbons) leads to the start. The marked route crosses a busy road, the crossing is guarded by organisers. After that arrive the competitors to the usual start area, there will be a second start clock. From that point continues the starting procedure on the usual way.

Please play fair, don’t disturb and don’t help the competitors.

Event centre and Finish area

Near Kazár-Szőröspuszta.

Attention! Szőröspuszta is the part of Kazár, but you have approach on the road Mátraszele-Salgótarján. The exact place where you should leave the asphalt road is signed.

Parking

Near the Finish area (100…500 m), during parking please follow the instructions of the organizers.

In case of extremely bad weather conditions you can park at the forestry court and alongside of the road to Bárna. We don’t recommend the parking alongside the road Mátraszele-Salgótarján due the heavy traffic.

Registration from 9:30 to 11:00 on Saturday, from 8:30 to 10:00 on Sunday at the Event Centre.

Terrain

Medium to big hillsides and valleys with a lot of point features (stones, pits, etc.). Some areas with intricate land forms. Some rocky areas in small parts of the terrain. Beech and oak forest, some open areas. Some dense areas with thickets. Runnability and visibility varies between very good and moderate. Medium density of roads and paths. Typical objects of old coal and stone mining may occur.

     Cliffs and valleys marked impassable are truly impassable. Some of them are 10…20 even 50…70 m high.

Recommended clothing and shoe

Hardly recommended to wear spike and dobbed shoes due the steep slopes. The wet muddy surface may be very slippery in rainy weather but even days after a rain. Also recommended to wear a long trouser and/or strong protective gaiter due the undergrowth at some parts.

Terrain

Varied terrain, with different levels of runability and steepness. On the one hand, forested area with steep slopes, partly rich in contour details. On the other hand, mainly flat urban area with family houses and block flats.

Recommended clothing and shoe

There are steep slopes on the terrain, but there are also paved areas due the town parts. So the most useful shoe is the dobbed or ribbed shoe without spikes. Also recommended to wear a long trouser due the bush and undergrowth at some parts.

Other

There will be no mobile toilets. Please use the toilets of the Strand Bath near the Finish area.

The bigger part of the map was made by: Zentai József, July 2021-January 2022.

Longer courses lead also to the farer, earlier mapped parts of the terrain.  These parts were mapped by: Dénes Zoltán 2013 és 2015, Marczis István  2013, Sőtér János  2013,      Zentai József  2013, Kovács Gábor  2017. These parts was updated in 2021-22.

In the following classes ther will be refreshement control(s). On the refreshement controls pure water is available. We can’t arrange the transport of own refreshments to the refreshment controls.
